...and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
I began to think heavily on this scripture and how it related to me as a husband and a father. It became the source of study for a few days. All I really knew is that I wanted my next generation (my sons and daughters,) to grow up and know the Lord. To know that He is real and that He is life changing. I wanted to establish some principles in my life for them. I wanted to make sure that they could say I know God is real!
Later that week my pastor asked me if I would preach, and with excitement I said yes. I really wasn't sure what I would preach on, and then the Lord spoke to my heart and said, preach a message for Nathan.
I thought, "Lord, this message was really just a commitment, I wanted to make personally to my son." I really didn't have any intention in preaching it to our whole church. But God dealt with me by saying this message is for everyone.
I pray that through this commitment/message that Nathan and the rest of our future children would grow up to become men and women of godly character. I pray that they would look back on their life and say, I know God is real because I saw Him in my parents.
I also pray that those who hear this message would make the same commitment to protect their homes and the lives of their children from the snares and traps of Satan. I pray that those who hear this message and work with the youth would commit to live a life that is free from habitual and know sin, and set a good example for our youth to follow. So that they might see the reality of God, in a changed life.
